Joseph E. House

	Joseph E. House, age 76, of Tamaroa, passed away Thursday morning, June 6, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
	Joe was born in Perry County on December 8, 1925, a son of Harley M. and Mary (Bailey) House.  He married Pauline Keith on August 18, 1951 and she survives.
	During his lifetime he served with the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict, was a coal miner at Consol Burning Star Mine #2 for over 40 years prior to retirement and was a member of Nine Mile Baptist Church in rural DuQuoin, having served as church treasurer for over 40 years. He was a 50 year member of Mitchell Lodge #85 A.F. & A.M. where he served as a Master five times and was currently serving as secretary, a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 9721 where he served as Financial Secretary for 30 years, a member of the Perry  County Shrine Club, was treasurer for the Nine Mile Cemetery Association, an avid golfer and enjoyed attending Pinckneyville Panther sporting events.
	Survivors include his wife:  Pauline; three daughters:  Dorothy Walker and her husband, Gary, of Greenville, Ky., Luann Lipe and her husband, Robert, of Pinckneyville and Alice LaFond and her husband Mark, of Littleton, Colo.; a sister:  Marian Miller of Shobonier, Ill.; three grandchildren:  Nolan and Garret Lipe and Derek Walker; two sisters-in-law:  Jean House of Pinckneyville and Earline House of O'Fallon, Mo.; a brother-in-law:  Oran Logan of Tamaroa and numerous other relatives and friends.
	Joe was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers:  Milas and Harry; a sister:  Flossie Logan and a brother-in-law:  George Miller.
	Funeral services were held on Monday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at the Nine Mile Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Carrothers officiating.  Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin.
	Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Sunday from 5 until 9 p.m. and on Monday from 8 until 9:30 a.m. then at the church until services.  Masonic services were held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
	Memorials may be made to the Nine Mile Cemetery Association or Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
